inspiration
I am passionate about the ocean. Photographing, paddle boarding, surfing, diving, working for ocean conservation, or simply being by the sea all contribute to a greater appreciation and wonder of our natural world which enriches all aspects of my life. The continuously changing light and conditions of the sea throughout the day and the seasons provide me with seemingly endless inspiration as an artist.
My early training and career in classical ballet and modern dance helped shape how I see movement, rhythm, line, form and composition. Whether at home in Santa Monica, California or as I travel the world, I am invariably touched and awed by the endless beauty and essence of the sea.
bio
Rachel holds a B.A. in International Relations from Brown University. She danced professionally with LA Chamber Ballet, among other dance companies. She is a founding and current board member of Barak Ballet. Rachel has sat on boards of several national environmental and children’s organizations for many years.
